Your J-1 Responsible Officer represents your J-1 sponsor and issues your Forms DS-2019. If your J-1 sponsor is the University of Maryland, then your J-1 Responsible Officer is: Connie Jesse. You can contact her in the Office of International Education Services at 301-314-7740 or cjl@umd.edu. Alternate Responsible Officers are Elizabeth Driver edriver@umd.edu,  and Marie Davis mdavis3@umd.edu.

If your J-1 sponsor is an agency, and if you are uncertain how to reach your J-1 Responsible Officer, staff in the International Education Services Office at the University of Maryland can help you contact the agency, but they have no authority over your J-1 visa status.
